Echinacea coneflower
A herb that’s native to the United States and Canada, echinacea has long been used by indigenous healers as a traditional medicine. First used by Native Americans centuries ago, it was adopted a therapeutic by the eclectic practitioners in the 1800s.
Echinacea is a plant that’s part of the daisy family. There are nine known species of the plant but only three tend to be used therapeutically
Echinacea angustifolia,
Echinacea pallida and
Echinacea purpurea.
Commonly known as the purple coneflower, both the root and the above-ground part of the plant, including the distinctive flowers, are used in herbal supplements.
